Today I Turn 30.

Today I turn 30. Who am I and how did I get here? I’m not freaked out by it, just simply amazed. 30 seemed so far away when I was a kid. It seemed far away just 5 years ago. Well, here we are.

As you hit milestones in your life; high school graduation, college graduation, wedding, house, and kids, the unknown of the the future can be very overwhelming. The younger you are the darker and deeper it is. But I have found that as I progressed through my twenties the picture was less dark and more in focus than previously in life. I'm proud of where I am today. I have started building a family and a career. My twenties were certainly a period of growth personally and professionally, and I'm a better man today than a decade ago. I'm excited for whats in store for the many years ahead. I've got big plans and the wheels are starting to be set in motion. But as with any plans, we must expect the unexpected.

And if I’ve learned anything over the past 30 years it’s that as soon as you think you have it figured out or have plans in place—you find out very quickly that you know nothing or that plans need to change.

So as I enjoy a few beverages today for a milestone birthday, I remind myself to be thankful, humble, and take nothing for granted, because the future has me excited to continue on this journey.

The 30's are the bridge that connects my youthful dreams to the vision of my future. It's a bridge I'm excited to cross because when this bridge ends--there is another waiting to take me further on my journey.

Maybe our bridges will cross or connect to the same checkpoint in the future. I'll see you there. I'll be the one in the orange bucket helmet. (see pic). Cheers!
